My Baby Refuses Formula! What Is The Solution?

My Child Refuses Formula! What Is The Solution ?

Formula milk comes second after breastfeeding milk. Formula
milk that is drunk through a bottle, is fortified with essential and beneficial elements for the child’s body, such as calcium.

But why do some babies reject this formula? Let’s get to know more through this article.

Why might the child refuse formula?

It is possible that the temperature of the milk in the bottle is not suitable, some babies prefer the milk to be warm, while other children prefer that the milk is like room temperature.

It is also possible that the nipple of the “feeding bottle” is closed or clogged without you noticing, or the opening may be narrow, which will disturb the child while he is drinking milk.

Milk may acquire an odor from things in the surrounding atmosphere, such as perfumes or different foods, especially onions and garlic, and thus the child does not like it and most likely will not drink it.

The “bottle” may have been prepared for a long time and thus the shelf life of the milk will have expired, or the packaging may essentially be expired, resulting in a change in the taste and smell of the milk.

What should I do when my baby refuses formula?

Check the health of your child, as he may be suffering from infections or stomach pain, which makes the artificial feeding process uncomfortable for him.

You should allocate a quiet place for your baby while breastfeeding, as the presence of television or family gatherings and noise, in general, may distract him and make him refuse to feed.

If your baby starts eating solid foods, he will feel full, and there is no place in his small stomach for milk. It is also very likely that your child has lost the desire for milk and is enjoying solid foods more.

Important tips if your baby abstains from formula feeding:

Do not force your baby to take the “bottle” if he does not want it at all, but you can try again later, and make sure that if he feels hungry or thirsty, he will take it automatically without any resistance.

If your child is eating solid foods, it is best to give him his meal about half an hour before the bottle of milk.

If your child continues to refuse formula, give him an extra meal that is things like yogurt, rice pudding, custard, milk-flavored cereal, or baby food prepared with milk.

After eating this extra meal, make sure that he feels thirsty by offering him a small cup of water, but make sure to boil the water first and then cool
