Choosing the right kind of thermometer doesn’t need to be tricky. When you’re taking a babies’ temperature, I always preferred to take it rectally. I know that doesn’t seem like the easiest way or the most comfortable, but to me, it is always the most accurate and when it comes to your babies’ health — accuracy is best. Just make sure you have some 100% pure petroleum jelly (Vaseline) for baby and everyone will be a little happier. I also liked to keep a digital thermometer in the diaper bag for on-the-go easy use.

I happen to believe a pain reliever/fever reducer is an absolute must-have in your baby first aid kit. If your baby is under 2 years old it is always important to remember, no matter the medicine or the brand of the medicine always ask your baby’s healthcare provider for the appropriate dose amount before administrating it and of course read the label thoroughly!!

Tylenol is always good to have on hand because you never know when your precious little baby is going to spike a fever or when a little tooth thinks it wants to try to pop out. Both are very uncomfortable for the little one and no one ever wants to see their babies’ in pain. Infants Motrin is also a good one to have handy. Like Tylenol, it helps with pain and fever and lasts up to 8 hours — so you don’t have to administer as often.

Butt Cream

Baby butts are just so cute. I mean, how can you even disagree with that? When you are in need of a diaper rash cream, the first thing that comes to my mind is to get one that works and works really well and fast!! A diaper rash can be so uncomfortable and painful.

I found that Destin Maximum Strength always worked wonders for my little man. Although, I’ve never used Boudreaux’s Butt Paste — I hear that one is great too and highly recommended, but of course every baby is different, so if you find something that works better for your baby, then use that one — and don’t forget to share with the rest of us what works best for you!
